Throughout the history of popular music, performers have always had problems with the law. No one seems to understand their fascination with jail, and it seems like some stars practically beg to be taken into correctional facilities. 2011, as always, has seen some well-known faces get in trouble with the law. There have been some repeat offenders and some new additions to the list. They include:
1. Rapper Juelz Santana was arrested in February 2011 on weapon and narcotic offences. He was later released but re-arrested in November on suspicion of making terrorist threats.
2. Christina Aguilera was arrested in March and charged with public intoxication. She was in the company of her new boyfriend Matthew Rutler who in turn was charged with drunk driving. The media and her fans have been left wondering whether her new boyfriend is to blame for her destructive behaviour, something that was never seen during her five year marriage to Jordan Bratman.
3. High flying rapper Rick Ross was taken into custody in Louisiana on charges of Marijuana possession. He, however, has been on the wrong side of the law before on Marijuana charges back in 2008.
4. Gucci Mane was arrested in April. The rapper, who has been arrested several times since 2001, was charged with misdemeanour battery after he pushed a woman out of a moving car.
5. Lindsay Lohan was once again a Guest of the State in the month of October after violating her probation, which had stemmed from her theft of a necklace from a jewellery store. She was not jailed due to overcrowding in the correctional facility she had been sent to. This is the umpteenth time Lindsay has been caught on the wrong side of the law.
